Kilmarnock Academy
1961 - 1967
Class Reunion
on
31 October, 2009

Over 80 people gathered in the Academy's assembly hall for a very successful reunion evening. They came together from all parts of Scotland, and several had travelled from the south of England to be present. Long-separated friends were able to catch up on the events of the past 42 years and to revisit the old Academy building, reminiscing about schooldays.

Mrs Carole Ford, head of Kilmarnock Academy, welcomed the company with some remarks about present day school life and the school's archives were opened up to display some evocative relics of education in the sixties.

Excellent food, drink and live sixties music made for a relaxed atmosphere, and photographs of our schooldays were displayed on a large screen throughout the evening.

A celebratory cake took the form of the Academy crest, and following the buffet meal it was ceremonially sliced by the 1967 Senior Prefects, Sandra (Falconer) Steele and John Hamilton.

More news from the reunion will appear here shortly. Photographs taken by Ian Geddes at the reunion can be viewed and purchased at his website, www.jwggallery.com.
